Lexie Hull had 17 points and 11 rebounds and No. 6 Stanford used two big first-half runs to roll past the Huskies 58-41 in Seattle on Friday.
The Cardinal (19-2, 8-1 Pac-12) won their fourth straight following a conference loss against Oregon two weeks ago. Stanford’s eighth straight win over Washington moved it into a tie with Oregon for the conference lead.
“I liked how hard people played position defense, scouting report defense, we’ll call it,” Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. “Knowing the personnel, knowing what things to take away from them.”
Stanford raced to an early 13-point lead after a dominating first quarter, watched the lead evaporate in a matter of minutes and managed to still hold a 32-22 halftime advantage, thanks to a barrage of 3-pointers late in the first half.
That run proved to be decisive as Washington never pulled closer than eight in the second half.
Kiana Williams was the only other Stanford player in double figures with 16 points. The Cardinal rolled despite shooting just 33% and were 2 of 13 on 3-pointers in the second half.
JaQuaya Miller led Washington (10-10, 2-7) with 10 points.
“I think at times we play not to lose instead of playing to win,” Miller said, “and that impacts our game a lot.”
#19 Arizona State 76, USC 75: Reili Richardson made a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left in the third overtime and the Sun Devils (16-5, 6-3 Pac-12) defended their home court against the Trojans (11-9, 3-6) for coach Charli Turner Thorne’s 500th career victory.
Richardson finished with 24 points on 10-of-25 shooting for Arizona State. Robbi Ryan added 11 points and Kiara Russell had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists in Arizona State’s first triple-overtime game in program history.
#16 Arizona 92, #8 UCLA 66: Aari McDonald scored 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting as the host Wildcats (17-3, 6-3 Pac-12) beat the Bruins (18-2, 7-2).
Sam Thomas added 20 points as Arizona got off to a hot start, took a big lead and never allowed UCLA back into the game. McDonald, a junior guard from Fresno, has scored in double figures in all 57 games of her college career, the longest active streak in the nation.
#2 Baylor 64, Texas 44: Queen Egbo scored 17 points and the Bears (19-1, 8-0 Big 12) used a big third quarter to pull away from the host Longhorns (14-7, 6-3). Egbo and Didi Richards each scored eight points in the third as Baylor quickly stretched a five-point halftime lead to 18.
Creighton 63, #11 DePaul 61: Olivia Elger scored 28 points and powered the Bluejays’ road comeback from a 22-point deficit against the Blue Demons (19-3, 9-1 Big East), who had won 10 in a row. Elger finished 7-for-10 from 3-point range, including three 3-pointers during the third quarter when Creighton (14-7, 6-4) cut a 20-point halftime deficit to 49-46 after outscoring the Blue Demons 25-8 in the period.
