New Star Wars hidden mugs hold 'Skywalker' tickets for successful hunters - IndyStar

The hunt is on for Star Wars-inspired coffee mugs and free tickets to see "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker."

In a sequel to a 2017 scavenger hunt, the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum is hiding a handmade mug and a pair of movie tickets somewhere in the city every day through Dec. 17.

Monday's mug, inspired by smooth-rolling robot BB-8, was the first of nine to be hidden. Someone snagged it within an hour of the posting of a clue at Instagram profile imaxindy.

The clue began, "Big and blue and shiny with a great view of the city."

If your mind went to the JW Marriott, that's where the mug was stashed and you may have what it takes to find a future prize.

The anonymous artist behind Instagram profile Indy_Mugs crafted mugs inspired by BB-8, R2-D2, Chewbacca and Kylo Ren for this year's scavenger hunt.

Kylo Ren is portrayed by Adam Driver, who attended Mishawaka High School and the University of Indianapolis, in "The Rise of Skywalker."

The ninth "Star Wars" film opens Dec. 19 at the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum and at other theaters. To reserve IMAX tickets, visit imax.com.

Driver collected a Golden Globe nomination Monday in the category of best actor in a drama for his work in "Marriage Story."

Clues to a mug's location are posted at 11:30 a.m. daily on the imaxindy Instagram profile.

Contest organizers request that mug winners stop hunting after one victory.

Hunters who don’t find a prize will be eligible to win a 10th mug in a raffle-style competition. Daily participation is required through an Instagram post based on the hunter's pursuit, accompanied by the hashtag #IMAXIndyMugClub.
